Highfields retirees have hosted a successful fundraising event in support of people impacted by cancer.

Held at the Carinity Brownesholme retirement village, the annual Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser raises money for the Cancer Council.

Almost 60 residents, family members and friends gathered for an enjoyable morning tea in the retirement village’s community hall.

Donations, a meat tray raffle, and sales of potted plants, homemade crafts and baked goods helped to raise almost $2,200 for the Cancer Council.

The fundraising event, organised by Carinity Brownesholme residents, also included guest speaker Peter Turnbull from Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness Centre.

The Toowoomba-based organisation seeks to provide allied health services, with no out-of-pocket costs, to people living with cancer.
